about giri

The Georgian Institute for Research & Innovation (GIRI) is a non-profit organisation based in Tbilisi that works to build a stronger, more open and internationally connected research and innovation ecosystem in Georgia.

Founded in 2024, GIRI supports evidence-based R&I strategies and policies, helps universities and research organisations engage in international programmes and networks, integrates AI-driven transformation, and develops skills and capacities for researchers, research managers and youth. We design international research and capacity-building projects, deliver targeted training and advisory support, and help Georgian institutions position themselves as credible partners in the European Research Area and beyond.

Mission:

Our mission is to advance evidence-based research culture in Georgia, support the modernisation of higher education, and develop the skills and networks needed for strengthening Georgia’s research and innovation system and participation in the European Research Area (ERA).

What we do:

We shape R&I policy, build skills and capacity, design international projects (Horizon Europe, Erasmus+), and support AI-driven transformation in education, research and innovation ecosystems in Georgia.

GIRI is a bridge between policy and practice, and between people who have ideas and the systems that can help those ideas grow.
